Artist Talk by Howard Skrill at the PopUp Gallery, Saturday, Sept 24, 4pm

Howard Skrill’s artwork of the sculpture Civic Virtue will be part of his talk on Saturday.

Artist/Educator Howard Skrill will be reading from his latest book-length monograph “Damnatio Memoriae” at the ArtSlope PopUp Gallery on Saturday, Sept 24 at 4pm. Skrill’s artwork is on display along with 22 artists from the Park Slope Windsor Terrace Artists group.

This reading, taken from Skrill’s “Damnatio Memoriae”, is about the destruction of public monuments and how the destroyed sculptures are discarded in public plazas and museums throughout New York City. The reading specifically speaks about sculptor Mac Moinne’s work Civic Virtue over Unrighteousness, as it moved from Manhattan’s City Hall Park to a fountain at the Kew Gardens subway station to a location in Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery. Howard Skrill’s drawing of Civic Virtue , shown above, is on display as part of the gallery exhibition.

Location: ArtSlope PopUp Gallery 575 Fifth Ave, between 15th St & 16th St, Brooklyn.
